Of course you do, well I’m a web designer . . . !
Well let’s think about it for a moment. I was having my hair cut just the other day and we got talking about web design. I asked my hairdresser if she had a website and she said, “no, I just use facebook”. We went on to discuss to ins and outs of getting a website up and running and then maintaining it. The disucssion ended up with both of us coming to the conclusion that as the Facebook account was working very well and generating enough paying customers, then having a website would add an unnecessary cost and time burden.
But hey, we are not all hairdressers, but it makes you think. Will a website add value to your business, do you customers expect you to have one?
There are a growing number of social media websites that can go some way to providing a platform for your voice. They plug to into a ready made community of people that you can connect with and, if that’s enough for you then maybe you don’t need a website. Alternatively, a website can provide a fully personalised/branded single point of contact and information resource for your prospects and customers.
So do you need a website? I’ll let you decide.
